Meet the Teachers

Jeff Schrock

na.pngJeff Schrock of Toledo, IL, has been married to his wife Robin for 31 years. Together they have three grown and married children and four grandchildren. Jeff owned and operated Schrock Custom Woodworking, Inc. for many years before launching Benchworx, a mobile woodworking program designed to educate young people on the art of woodworking and safely using hand tools. Jeff serves as an elder at Christ's Church, Effingham campus. He also serves on the mission team there. Becoming a grandfather a few years ago reiterated to Jeff the importance of teaching the next generations about life and faith.

Levi Schrock

na.pngHi, my name is Levi Schrock, and I am one of the teachers at Benchworx! I attended Kentucky Christian University where I earned a bachelor’s degree in Bible and Ministry with an emphasis in youth and family. My love for woodworking began when I was a little boy running around helping my dad (Jeff Schrock) in his cabinet business. Since I was a young boy, I have enjoyed working with different tools and building things out of wood and now I get to help teach others about one of my passions. Being a student minister, I get to work with youth of all ages and help them succeed in life. I also love teaching students new skills and helping them develop passions that allow them to use the gifts and talents they possess. Since I started teaching at Benchworx, I have enjoyed seeing the excitement and creativity that they students have for woodworking!

Cathy Oakley

cathy-oakley.jpgHi, my name is Cathy Oakley. I help set up, prepare for class, instruct students during class, and clean up after. I was in 4-H from age 8 to 18, took every drawing and painting class possible during High School and completed the Cosmetology program at Lakeland College. I love working with kids, so I volunteer for Youth Group, Vacation Bible School, and nursery. I know from experience the joy of completing a project and accomplishing something difficult or that you didn't even know you could do so, I love the privilege of seeing and helping students achieve that same joy and accomplishment.
